In other news, Hugo Chavez remains firmly off the deep end

PressTV | Chavez says US 'weapon' caused Haiti quake

Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez Wednesday accused the United States of causing the destruction in Haiti by testing a 'tectonic weapon' to induce the catastrophic earthquake that hit the country last week.

President Chavez said the US was "playing God" by testing devices capable of creating eco-type catastrophes, the Spanish newspaper ABC quoted him as saying. [...]

Chavez said the killer earthquake followed a test of "weapon of earthquakes" just offshore from Haiti. He did not elaborate on the source of his claim.
How does anybody take this dope seriously? It's like he's living in a James Bond movie, and a bad 1980s one at that.

PS This, isn't really related but since we're on the topic of thuggish Latin American Marxists, but Nick Gillespie has a new critique of murderer Che Guevara.

  1. Gee, sounds like the American administration from the top of the decade. I bet the Wolfowitz/Cheney camp wish they had come up with a "tectonic-weapon" threat...sounds more ominous than WMD's...

Of course the Chavez regime is battling Capitalist expansion in the region, nationalizing indutries for the benefit of his people, and stopping the wholesale theft of his countries natural resources by international oil barons and corporate pariahs which, being an oil producing nation, makes him evil incarnate in the typically small minds of U.S. imperialists.

Meanwhile in the U.S. a medicare bill that could actually benefit the people, rather than padding the pockets of HMO's has been watered down to the point where it looks more like a bail out package for the insurance industry.

Americans have absolutely no right throwing stones at other world leaders as long as they allow corporate interests to usurp democracy!

  2. I have no love for American politicians either, buddy. But when I see people doing crazy shit, I'm calling them out on it no matter how much an evil imperialist it makes people like you think I am.
