Monday Rock

I had a lengthy discussion with friends recently about the state of contemporary music, and whether any of it was new or just rehashing old ideas. On the one hand, the dozen or so of my favorite bands formed in the last 10 years play music rather explicitly modeled after older styles, but my favorite music is rock from 1975 plus or minus a decade, so it shouldn't be a surprise I like modern bands who play in an older style. On the other hand, there's new stuff being done outside of rock, and in the case of something like mash-ups, entire new modes have been created recently. So, via Radley Balko, I give you the synthesis of both of these opinions: Zep's "Whole Lotta Love" and Sabbath's "War Pigs" at the same time.
